The GolfKings Scottish Men's Area Team Championship at Newmachar next weekend is the premier Area team competition in Scotland and Hilton Park have, for the first time in many years, 2 players in the Dumbartonshire 6 man team. Mark Hughes, the current DGU (Dunbartonshire Golf Union) Matchplay Champion, and Lachlan Reynolds, the current DGU Junior Matchplay Champion.Congratulations and very good luck to both players and the Dunbartonshire team !
The good results continue for young Hilton Park golfers. Mark Hughes not only won the Gents’ Championship at Hilton Park recently, but after 21 holes of nail biting golf against Balmore’s James Wilson, clinched the Dunbartonshire Golf Union Championship title as well ,a few weeks later. James had fought back from being 3 down early on with birdies at 9 and 10. In a tight finish Mark played a number of exceptional chip shots and in the end it was those that saw him win through.
Lachlan Reynolds not only won Friday’s stroke-play championship at Balmore Golf Club with a 36-hole total of 147 (74-73) but then went on to win the match-play championship defeating Clydebank and District’s Kyle Murphy by 6 and 5 in Sunday’s final.
Lachlan is pictured receiving the Matchplay Trophy from DGU President Alan Bell.
